98th Annual Meeting of the Western Society of Naturalists
Online meeting registration is now open. Abstracts for contributed papers, speed talks (a new category of presentation!), and posters can be submitted during the registration process and will be accepted through October 5, 2017. Given that the abstract deadline is only a few weeks before the meeting, please be aware that WSN is unable to accept any late abstracts (sorry, no exceptions). See here for guidelines on presentations and posters. For those not presenting, a walk-in registration rate is available from October 5 through the beginning of the meeting. Register soon to avoid this more expensive rate!
Due to the growing attendance at our meetings, WSN strongly encourages members to only present findings from mature projects that are in their later stages or are completed. If you only have preliminary data, please consider waiting to present at a later WSN meeting. WSN asks that major advisors continue to review and approve all student abstracts, talks, and posters to assure the appropriateness and high quality of the work presented.
As with several prior meetings, we will be organizing several Special Topic Sessions of contributed talks. You can read more about these topics here.
Please see our new list of Frequently Asked Questions regarding Abstracts and Meeting Registration for further information.
The annual meeting will be held November 16-19, 2017 at the Hilton Pasadena Hotel, 168 South Los Robles Ave., Pasadena, CA. All workshops, symposia, and contributed talks and poster sessions will be held in the meeting rooms of the hotel. For driving directions and general hotel information, visit the Hilton site.
We have arranged for room rates of $179/night for a standard single or double room, $189/night for a triple, and $199 for a quad. These rates will apply until October 16, 2017. We urge all WSN members to stay in the Hilton Pasadena Hotel so that the Society can fulfill its room commitment, which will allow us to remain financially solvent. As usual, we strongly advise you to make your hotel reservations as early as possible and well before the meeting, or you may be unable to find ccommodations at the Hilton Pasadena Hotel. In recent years, the reserved block of rooms has sold very quickly and we anticipate that the meeting will be well attended. A special WSN reservations link for the Hilton Pasadena Hotel can be found here (this links to a secure URL):
Update: Two new blocks of rooms are now open at the Westin Hotel in Pasadena for this year’s WSN meeting. You can use either of the links below to make a reservation. The room rates in the first link are slightly cheaper (first come, first served) and comparable to the rates at the Hilton. The rates in the second link are only slightly more per night, but still greatly discounted from the regular hotel rate. Rates are good until October 19.
The first is for the block of 20 rooms that start at $179.
The second is for the block of 30 rooms that start at $199.
