Guidelines for presenters
Note: These guidelines are from the 2006 meeting. Please check back for up-to-date information
The final schedule for the meeting, including sessions, dates, and times for contributed talks will be posted on the website in late October.
Guidelines for contributed talks
All contributed talks will take place approximately between the hours of 1 - 6 PM on Friday and Saturday, and beginning 10 AM on Sunday. Presenters will have 15 minutes for oral presentations, which includes 12 minutes for the presentation and 3 minutes for questions. Session chairs will interrupt any presentation exceeding 15 minutes in order to remain on schedule.
All presentations should be in Microsoft PowerPoint format. Digital projectors and microphones will be available for all presentations. If you wish to use slides or overheads for your presentation, please contact the WSN secretariat at:
secretariat@wsn-online.org so that we can be prepared with the proper equipment.
Presenters should bring their presentations to the WSN meeting on a CD or jump drive (strongly preferred). Laptop computers (PC) for each session will be available for uploading presentations at the registration desk. Invited speakers should be ready to load their presentations at 7:30 a.m. in the room in which the symposium will be held. Contributed paper presenters should be loaded onto laptops beginning 12:00 noon and no later than 12:45 PM on Friday and Saturday, and no later than 9:45 on Sunday of the day of your talk. Any presenters who have not uploaded their presentation by that time may not be included in their scheduled session
Presenters are strongly encouraged to preview their presentations on a PC before coming to the meeting. Note that presentations created on a Macintosh computer may appear differently on a PC. If your presentation includes video, you must load both the presentation and the video file onto the laptop used in your session.
NOTE FOR MAC USERS: If you have created your presentation on a Mac, please make sure that all images have been imported as images, rather than cut and pasted into powerpoint. The latter method will result in missing images when projected from a PC.
Guidelines for contributed posters
The WSN poster session will commence on Friday at 5 PM in a room adjacent to the meeting rooms for oral presentations in the Embassy Suites. Presenters are requested to be ready to put up posters at 4 PM so that all posters are on display by 5 PM.
Posters can remain on display throughout the Attitude Adjustment Hour, which will take place in the ballroom adjacent to the poster session. Posters MUST fit within a 45 inch x 45 inch space. We will have foam board and easels as necessary for posters. Presenters are responsible for placing their own posters and for taking them down by 10:30 a.m. the next day (Saturday)
Presenters are requested to stand by their poster to answer questions from 5-7 PM. Judging for best student poster will take place throughout that 2-hour period, and questions addressed to presenters constitutes one of the criteria on which student posters are judged.
